About Bobby Bama

I’m Bobby Bama.

I’m just a normal guy who’s worn a lot of different hats over the years - Army brat, former law enforcement officer, business owner, husband, father, grandfather, preparedness guy, and probably a few others I’ve forgotten.

Some things I know a little more about than others. Some I’ve learned through experience, and some I’m simply interested in and want to understand better. I’m still learning either way.

That’s really what this place is about.

One Thing Led to Another

I’ve always had a habit of looking into one thing and finding three more things I want to know about.

One question leads to another. Something I read reminds me of something I’ve experienced. Something happening today makes me wonder how we got here. Sometimes I discover I was right about something. Sometimes I discover I wasn’t.

One thing leads to another.

That’s why you’ll find several different kinds of things here.

Articles are where I take a subject, research it and try to make sense of what I find.

Blog is a little less formal - observations, experiences, questions, opinions and whatever else has been rattling around in my head.

Across the Table is the podcast side of things: conversations about preparedness, readiness and whatever else seems worth sitting down and talking about.

Video is exactly what it sounds like.

There won’t necessarily be a schedule, and I don’t intend to manufacture something just because it’s Tuesday and I’m supposed to publish something.

If I think something is worth talking about, I’ll talk about it.

A Note About How I Work

I use ChatGPT as a research, writing and editing tool in developing some of the material published here. That can include helping me research a subject, organize information, challenge my thinking, develop drafts and edit what I’ve written.

The subjects I choose, the views expressed, the decisions about what belongs here, and the final decision to publish are mine. I review and approve what appears under my name, and when something requires factual support, I try to provide the sources so you can check it for yourself.

I don’t see much difference between telling you this and telling you what other tools I use. But since artificial intelligence is becoming part of how people research and write, I’d rather be straightforward about how I use it.

That’s about it.

I’m not here to convince anybody that I’ve got everything figured out.

I’m here because I still enjoy learning, thinking, asking questions and occasionally finding out that one thing led to another.
